How to Pick the Right Glitch Style

Two settings shape the result. Intensity sets how many marks each letter gets, and Marks sets where they go.

For Marks, choose Above or Below when the text sits close to other lines, Through for a crossed-out, damaged look, and All for the strongest effect. Press Randomize to get a new pattern with the same settings, and keep pressing until the shape looks right. For a different look altogether, try the 14 ready-made styles under the tool, such as Strikethrough, Currency Glitch or Upside Down.

How to Use Glitch Text on Each Platform

The same rule applies almost everywhere: glitch text works in names, bios and posts, but not in usernames or handles.

How to Use Glitch Text on Instagram

  2. Open Instagram, go to your profile and tap Edit profile.
  3. Tap Name or Bio, paste the text and tap Done.

Tip: The bio allows 150 characters and every mark counts, so Mild or Glitch fits best.

Tip: Display names allow 32 characters, so use Mild for names and save heavy styles for messages.

How to Use Glitch Text on Roblox and games

Works: RarelyBlocked: Usernames, display names and most chat
  1. Try a light style first, such as Mild.
  2. If the game rejects it or shows hashtags, the filter is blocking special characters.
  3. Use a letter-swap style like Currency Glitch instead.

Tip: Game filters change often, so a style that works today may be blocked later.

How to Clean or Share Glitch Text

Turn glitch text back into normal words

  1. Paste the glitch text into the Your Text box.
  2. Press Clean text. The marks are removed.
  3. Press Copy clean, or Undo to get the glitched version back.

Clean text is built for English. If you made the text on FontHex in the same visit, it restores your exact words, accents included. For glitch text from elsewhere in other languages, some accents may be removed.

Send your exact result with Share

Share copies a web address that opens FontHex with your text, settings and pattern, so a friend sees exactly what you made and can tweak it. Anyone with the link can read the text, so do not share anything private this way.

Zalgo text guide

How to Make Zalgo Text

  1. Open the zalgo text generator and type your words.
  2. Tap a style (Whisper, Haunted, He Comes, Rising or Dripping) or drag the chaos slider from 1 to 25.
  3. Press Copy and paste it anywhere, or press Share to send a link with your exact result.

How to Control Where Zalgo Marks Go

Up, Middle and Down choose where the marks grow. Turn one off to stop marks on that side, for example Up only for text that rises like smoke. If none is picked, all three are used.

Height Guard caps how tall the marks get, so zalgo does not cover the lines above and below in chats and bios.

How to Turn Zalgo Back Into Normal Text

  1. Paste the zalgo text into the Your Text box.
  2. Press Unzalgo. The marks are removed and the result box shows the clean words.
  3. Press Copy clean, or Undo to bring the zalgo back.

Tip: Heavy zalgo can lag older phones. Use Whisper or Height Guard for chats, and save He Comes for posts and memes.

Cursed text guide

How to Make Cursed Text

  1. Open the cursed text generator and type your words.
  2. Scroll the list of 24 styles, or tap a mood (Ancient, Creepy, Glitchy or Flipped) to narrow it.
  3. Press Copy next to the style you want and paste it anywhere.

How to Make Cursed Text Look Scarier

Drag the curse level slider from 0 to 10. Level 0 shows the base style, and every step adds more marks above and below the letters. Styles built from other alphabets, like Demon Tongue or Dark Fraktur, stay clean because marks look broken on them; they show a "no extra marks" tag. Press Randomize for a new pattern on the marked styles.

Creepy text guide

How to Make Creepy Text

  1. Open the creepy text generator and type your words, or tap Scare me for a ready-made line.
  2. Set the creep level from 0 to 10 and pick a frame like Candles, Ghost or Blood.
  3. Press Copy next to the style you want and paste it anywhere.

How to Add a Horror Frame

Tap one of the frames under the creep level. It wraps every style in emoji, like 🕯️ candles or 🕸️ cobwebs. Tap None to remove it. Frames add a few characters, so skip them where space is tight, such as display names.

How to Copy and Paste Special Text on Phone and PC

iPhone and iPad

Tap Copy on FontHex. In the other app, tap the text field once and choose Paste.

Android

Tap Copy. In the other app, press and hold the text field, then tap Paste.

Windows

Click Copy, then press Ctrl+V where you want the text.

Mac

Click Copy, then press Cmd+V where you want the text.

Keep important details like links, dates and your real name in plain text. Screen readers read glitch, zalgo and cursed text as random characters.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

The app says the name is invalid

Cause: Usernames and handles only accept certain characters.

Fix: Use your display name or bio instead.

Text is cut off

Cause: Every mark counts as a character.

Fix: Switch to Mild or glitch one word.

Boxes or question marks appear

Cause: The app or font cannot draw some marks.

Fix: Use Mild, or Strikethrough or Currency Glitch.

Marks overlap other lines

Cause: Heavy styles stack marks high and low.

Fix: Choose Above or Below only.

Marks disappear after posting

Cause: Some filters strip special characters.

Fix: Use a lighter style or a single word.

Copy does nothing

Cause: The browser blocked the clipboard.

Fix: Select the result and copy it manually.
